C1  1850 Ball & Chain
This device from 1850 was intended to incapacitate slaves and prisoners. The iron ball weighs 25 pounds, is 30 inches in diameter (the size of a bowling ball. The  18 inch chain is welded to an iron ankle cuff with retractable key. The ball slows slaves to allow them to work in fields and along roads.
