THE SMARTO CRIME & PUNISHMENT COLLECTION
This collection of 70 interesting objects and historical artifacts has
stimulated children of all ages in both elementary, middle, and
secondary schools since 1986.
Students may hold a prison key from 1746, wear a judge’s robe and hit
his gavel, or wear a prison uniform with a ball and chain attached from
1850.
Acquired from fine antique stores in Philadelphia, Chicago, New Orleans,
and Denver, these artifacts can be used to teach the values of a
civilized nation, the purpose of law, and the need for punishment.
Students and teachers appreciate how history comes alive by touching
items usually placed behind glass in museums.
The collection is used in schools to relate to American history and the
development of laws and punishment at the level most appropriate for the
student’s level. |
