C35 1864 Confederate Bill

This ten dollar bill is printed in two colors, back and front. Many bills were printed cheaply one side only and in one ink color. It was good for “two years from the ratification of a Treaty” which was the hope of the Confederates who were outnumbered and out supplied. A Confederate private made $8 per month. Near the end of the war inflation dropped the bills to 33 cents on the dollar. After the surrender, bills dropped to 1200 per 1. Boots cost $500 at the end of the civil war, but the South still honored the bills.
